Abbey Runners is delighted to announce that it has moved its training HQ to Holt Park Active.
Abbey Runners was established 30 years ago when a group of like-minded runners in North Leeds agreed to meet up at and train from Kirkstall Abbey. The club now has over 150 members of all ages and abilities, plus a thriving Juniors section. It’s a great place to meet other like-minded students.
Holt Park Active was opened last year, and includes a 70-station Bodyline gym, 25m pool, hydrotherapy and learning pools, dance studio, café, garden, sports hall and meeting areas.
Martin Browne, Club President of Abbey Runners, commented: “We are extremely excited about moving to Holt Park Active, not the least being the first-class facilities at such a great location. We believe that our new home offers tremendous opportunities for both Abbey Runners and Holt Park Active. We’ve even refreshed our Club logo to mark both the move and our 30 year anniversary!”
Mark Robinson, Centre Manager at Holt Park Active, said: “Holt Park Active is delighted to welcome Abbey Runners into the facility as their new home and training base. Our aim is to engage with as many people in the locality as possible and to do so now with a club the size and stature of Abbey Runners is exceptionally pleasing.”
Abbey Runners organises a number of local races every year, including the popular Eccup 10. Martin added: “In the last ten years, we are proud that the Club’s flagship race, the Eccup 10, has raised over £20,000 for local charities such as Sue Ryder (Wheatfields), the Sylvia Wright Trust and Hollybank.”
Abbey Runners train every Tuesday evening and every second Thursday from Holt Park Active at 7.30pm.
