Author Chris Nickson has written the first crime novel in a new series about a Private Investigator and jazz-music-fan working in 1950s Leeds. This historical, Noir-style novel explores themes of murder, power and most importantly; Jazz music.

The book, entitled Dark Briggate Blues, begins when a beautiful woman asks Dan Markham PI to discover if her husband has been unfaithful. He believes the case will be simple. However, when the gentleman in question is murdered, Dan becomes the number one suspect. Dark Briggate Blues is exploration into the rare genre of British noir.

The author Chris Nickson has written many historical mystery stories including The Crooked Spire for The Mystery Press. A well-known music journalist, he’s a frequent contributor to numerous music magazines and lives in Leeds.
