Whether you live in Leeds or only enjoy the odd visit to the city, if you haven’t been to Leeds Festival before then serious questions have to be asked! The festival attracts over 75,000 people to Bramham Park every year and with a party atmosphere, a few drinks and some of the biggest names in music performing, it’s definitely an unmissable experience.

Previous headliners have included Eminem, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and Blink 182, but this year is the turn of Mumford & Sons, Metallica and The Libertines!

For Mumford & Sons, who perform on the Saturday night, it’s their second appearance at Leeds Festival – the first came five years ago when the up and coming band performed to a packed audience on the BBC Radio 1 Stage. Five years later, they have had a number one album in both the US and the UK, won two Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards and they are now returning as headliners.

In the lead-up to the festival season, the band have released two singles, ‘Believe’ and ‘Snake Eyes’, from their next album release, performed as a guest on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ and launched a new website.

The folk-rock band are now expecting to have a huge summer that includes the release of their third studio album, their tour of the US and they’ll round it all off with a highly anticipated performance in Leeds!

One of the other headliners is controversial band The Libertines! With a frontman like Pete Doherty, it’s definitely going to be an exciting show.

The Libertines achieved widespread mainstream success in 2002 with their debut album, gaining a dedicated cult following, with Doherty in particular being praised by fans and critics alike as one of the most promising songwriters to emerge on the British music scene for some time. Their next eight years included prison spells, rehab and the band breaking up! However, they reformed at Leeds Festival in 2010 and will return to the event as one of the best live acts in the country.

And for the metal lovers out there, world famous band Metallica will also be performing at the event. Metallica rank as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, having sold over 110 million records worldwide and with a career spanning over 30 years, they have a loyal fanbase!

There are loads of other top acts performing such as Charlie XCX, Lethal Bizzle, Bastille and Kendrick Lamar so there’s a little bit for everyone. You can win tickets with us by entering he competition below or you can buy tickets at
