Trinity Leeds beats Blue Monday with free ‘feel good’ films at Everyman Cinema Leeds; Top ten ‘feel good’ films revealed
Trinity Leeds is beating the winter blues this ‘Blue Monday’ (15 January) by hosting free ‘feel good’ films at Everyman Cinema Leeds.
Between 5:00pm – 11:30pm, Trinity Leeds will be showcasing Back To The Future (5pm), Pretty Woman (7:15pm) and Grease (9:40pm), free along with complimentary popcorn, with the aim to turn Blue Monday into a day of smiles, laughter and all round good cheer.
The three movies came top in a public vote to decide the best ‘feel good’ films of all time – almost 2,000 votes were cast, with the top ten being:
- Grease
- Back To The Future
- Pretty Woman
- Bridget Jones’s Diary
- Dirty Dancing
- The Shawshank Redemption
- Forrest Gump
- Mrs Doubtfire

The top three films will be showcased in the Private Screening Room at Everyman and tickets can be collected at Trinity Leeds Customer Service Lounge from 9am on the day on a first come, first served basis.
Blue Monday falls on the third Monday of January and is supposedly the most depressing day of the year, taking into account the wintery weather, amount of time since Christmas and New Year festivities, along with low motivational levels and realisation of debt.
David Maddison, General Manager at Trinity Leeds, said: “We always strive to make a trip to Trinity Leeds as enjoyable as possible for visitors, so we wanted to do a little something to brighten up everyone’s spirits this Blue Monday – that’s why we are hosting free ‘feel good’ films at Leeds’ only luxury cinema.
“We were keen to let the public decide on the films that cheer them up the most and believe the three films chosen will do just that. We look forward to welcoming the public this Monday and hope everyone enjoys the films and beats the Monday blues.”
