Be TREEmendous with Velvet tissue on Friday 4th December in Temple Newsam Park, Leeds
Please join us as we begin to plant thousands of trees for the local community to enjoy
Location: Temple Newsam Park, Leeds, LS15 0AE
Date: Friday 4th December
Time: 1.30pm – 3pm
On Friday 4th December, during National Tree Week, around 100 schoolchildren and community volunteers will be picking up a spade and planting trees at an event hosted by SCA-owned brand Velvet in the beautiful Temple Newsam Park in Leeds. The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr Judith Chapman, will also be attending on the day to give us a hand!
On the day, we will start the first phase of the Be TREEmendous with Velvet campaign, by planting 100’s of trees. Throughout the month, we will continue to plant over 10,000 trees along the western boundary of Temple Newsam Park. The site shadows the new Leeds Enterprise Zone and will provide a buffer to noise and air pollution from the development.
This TREEmendous project is being delivered in partnership with Trees for Cities (an independent UK charity focussed entirely on planting urban trees and providing volunteering opportunities to bring local people together) and Leeds City Council, with co-funding from Mondegreen EB.
The event will celebrate Velvet’s environmental record – Velvet knows how important it is to protect the world’s natural resources, that’s why it replaces three trees for every one used to make its toilet tissue. To date, over seven million trees have been planted around the world.
