Leeds City College hosts biggest welcome event
Over 3,000 students were welcomed to Leeds City College with an event to celebrate the start of the new academic year.
Airport themed Destination Success took place at Printworks Campus, giving students a fun and friendly introduction to college life.
The freshers had the opportunity to see one of the college’s flagship campuses, learn more about college life, sign up to clubs and societies, whilst enjoying entertainment, food and fairground rides.
Gavin Batty, Director of Curriculum & Operations at Leeds City College, said: “We wanted to give students the best start to their first term at college, ensuring they felt welcome and at home.
“As well as meeting new friends and learning more about college, students who weren’t sure about their courses, were able to go to the ‘transfer lounge’ where they could discuss options to move to another course.
“The event was a huge success, we made people smile and truly made a difference, which is what Leeds City College is all about.”
Among the sponsors of the event, was Megabus, who provided the transport for students to get from their main campus to Printworks.
Mark Venables, Managing Director for megabus.com,said: “We are absolutely delighted to have helped students with transport at the start of the year in what is a fast growing and exciting city. Leeds City College organised a great event with a fantastic atmosphere and we wish all the students success with their courses and an enjoyable year.”
