Vibrant city
You name it, Leeds probably has it. With its vast open spaces, array of local attractions and vibrant music, culture and sporting scenes it’s no surprise why many of our students decide to make it their home for life. Whatever you want from your university experience, you’ll find it in Leeds.
Student Nightlife
Nightlife
Our city comes to life at night – we have bars, clubs and pubs to suit all genres and budgets. In fact, Leeds is one of the UK’s best cities for nightlife. If you fancy a big night out, you couldn’t come to a better place.
Music
From Leeds Festival to Leeds Arena – our new 13,500 capacity venue for live music – we have venues and nightclubs to suit all tastes. You’ll be spoilt for choice if music is your passion.
The O2 Academy hosts names such as Rita Ora, Alt-J and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. From emo and R&B, to pop and rock, you’re sure to find something you’ll love at one of our gig hot-spots, such as Brudenell Social Club and our very own Student Union venue.
Shop ’til you drop
If you love shopping, you’re in the right place. Leeds is one of largest shopping locations in the UK, boasting 957 retail outlets in the city centre – with historic arcades, the Corn Exchange, Kirkgate Market and Trinity Leeds, alongside unique local and retro shops, Leeds truly is a shoppers’ paradise.
Culture
Enjoy a show, head for one of our galleries or museums, or laugh the night away at a comedy club. There’s also a huge selection of cinemas to choose from, and our very own International Film Festival.
If you’re in the mood for a performance, Opera North, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds Grand Theatre and Northern Ballet are a great place to start.
Food lovers
Tuck into whatever takes your fancy – Italian, Japanese, Mexican, South Asian spices or traditional British flavours – there are hundreds of food outlets to choose from. And, if that isn’t enough, we’ve also got an annual food festival.
