Issimo – ‘The Coldest Queen’
They have been dubbed “Yorkshires answer to The Scissor Sisters” by Bradfords UNESCOs City of Film Director David Wilson, and the glam-pop outfit ISSIMO are now set to release their debut single ‘The Coldest Queen’ on the 9th of October. To coincide with their single release they are also releasing a short film/music video that was funded by their fans via Kickstarter . The video will premier on the 1st of September with a public showing on the big screen at Bradford centenary square in front of an audience of fans and cast members. The piece was directed by rising star Conor Butler, who’s helmed promos for such well-known artists as Jessie J, Plan B and Girls Aloud.
ISSIMO consists of core members Abi Uttley and Marc Otway backed by a group of six ‘Issimites’. The pair formed after they had both competed in the finals of a nationwide battle of the bands called ‘Rock the House’ which was held at the House of Commons and supported by big names such as Queen’s Brian May, Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus and Rick Wakeman (Former keyboard player for Yes.) Uttley and Otway finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the solo act category, and have since formed ISSIMO, having already gained attention with shows at Latitude Festival, Cornbury Festival, and Beat Herder festival.
‘The Coldest Queen’ short film was produced by Uttley and Otway, and filmed in their home county of West Yorkshire, after they had managed to exceed their funding target of £3,000 on the crowd funding website Kickstarter. Using that budget they managed to produce a short film that features a large cast, an elaborate plot, high production values and many different locations.
“After all we’ve done so far we’re so excited be finally releasing some our music for our fans to be able to listen to!” say’s the band’s leading lady Abi Uttley.
