Northern Ballet’s Chair Sir David Wootton receives Yorkshire Lifetime Achievement Award
Northern Ballet is delighted to announce that their Chair of the Board, Sir David Wootton was honoured with the Yorkshire Lifetime Achievement Award at the Yorkshire Awards in Leeds on Friday 16 October. The award is presented to the person who, over their lifetime, has made an outstanding contribution to the community of Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Awards recognise people and organisations who have had an impact on Yorkshire and its people in some way, demonstrating their affection for, and commitment to, the county.
Bradford-born Sir David has devoted considerable time to charitable, cultural and community activities within Yorkshire and nationally. He is Patron and Chair to a number of educational and arts institutions including Bradford Grammar School and Northern Ballet.
Sir David was appointed Chair of Northern Ballet in 2013, overseeing policy and strategic direction for the Company including building relationships with its current funders, sponsors and Royal Patron, HRH the Earl of Wessex KG GCVO.
Northern Ballet’s Chief Executive, Mark Skipper DL said: ‘We are delighted that Sir David Wootton has received this prestigious award which is richly deserved. The fact that somebody of his calibre would agree to become Chair of Northern Ballet is reflective of his commitment to Yorkshire and the arts.’
Sir David Wootton said: ‘I am delighted to be honoured with this prestigious award. Born and brought up in Yorkshire, my current involvement at Northern Ballet shows I have never really left.’
