RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY BRINGS #0800R1NG2RAV3 TO LEEDS AND LONDON
Leeds – Saturday 21st November
London – Saturday 4th December
Two unbilled events hark back to the hey day of under-ground rave culture in the UK
Paying tribute to the bygone era of illegal raves and keeping things on the down low, Red Bull Music Academy brings #0800R1NG2RAV3 to Leeds and London on the 21st November and 4th December respectively. Building on the success of the event’s debut during the Red Bull Music Academy UK Tour in April, with a bill that included Moxie, Shy FX, Fabio & Grooverider, the #0800R1NG2RAV3 locations and line-ups will only be re-vealed, in true old-school fashion, on the day of the event. With the throwback format established, expect the talent to buck the trend; drawing on some of today’s finest DJ talent to bring the event right up to date.
An artistic beacon for the northern party scene, Leeds will be the host city for the first event, while London provides a fertile dance floor somewhere within the M25 for its second instalment. Putting a 2015 spin on the old mechanic, the line-up and location of the event will only be released on the day in re-sponse to tweeting the hashtag #0800R1NG2RAV3 in the build up to the event. This will provide lucky recipients with a tweet reply containing the details for the event, so be sure to keep an eye on those notifications!

About Red Bull Music Academy
The 17th edition of the Red Bull Music Academy is taking place in Paris from October 24 to November 27, 2015, bringing together 61 hand-selected producers, vocalists, beat-makers, instrumentalists and DJs from 37 countries. They will attend intimate lecture sessions and col-laborate on music in an expansive, custom-built studio space, contained within the acclaimed space for digital culture in the heart of Paris, La Gaîté lyrique.
More than 1,500 musical luminaries have participated in past incarnations of the Red Bull Music Academy. Former lecturers include Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Erykah Badu, Ryuichi Sakamoto, D’Angelo, George Clinton, Nile Rodgers, Frankie Knuckles, Giorgio Moroder, Questlove, Stephen O’Malley, Rakim, RZA, Steve Reich, M.I.A., and pioneering synth inventors Bob Moog, Tom Ober-heim, Don Buchla, Roger Linn, and Dave Smith, amongst many others. Plenty of Academy alumni have gone on to become true figureheads of their scenes, such as experimental elec-tronic music producer and beat music innovator Flying Lotus; L.A. soul singer Aloe Blacc (“I Need A Dollar”); Hudson Mohawke, the Scottish producer behind the beats of Drake and Kanye West; Latin Grammy Award-winning vocalist and songwriter Natalia Lafourcade; and UK singer Katy B, who introduced the whole world to the sound of London’s dubstep, funky and garage. Other notable alumni include Nina Kraviz, Jamie Woon, TOKiMONSTA, Jackmaster, Andreya Tri-ana, Evian Christ, Oddissee, Deradoorian, Objekt, and Krystal Klear. A number of French trail-blazers have come through the Academy too, such as Onra, Canblaster, Kool Clap, Débruit, and Pilooski.
The Red Bull Music Academy has been pairing music legends and emerging beatsmiths since 1998 in cities such as Berlin, Cape Town, Melbourne, Barcelona, Rome, São Paulo, London, To-kyo and New York City. This unique combination of old school knowledge and new school sounds is unrivalled for its creative exploration and achievement. Each Academy edition leaves behind structures to encourage musical collaboration and creative exchange for years to come. By the end of 2015, there will be twelve fully equipped Red Bull Studios around the world.
