House DJ’s Go for Gold in Memory of Dear Friend

On Saturday 11th April some of House Music’s finest will come together to celebrate, remember and raise money in memory of DJ Despo aka Duncan Michael Wilson who tragically passed away from an aggressive form of Testicular Cancer in March 2013. Distrikt Bar and Wire Club in Leeds will see Adam Shelton, Tristan Da Cunha, PBR Streetgang, Laura Jones, Gavin Herlihy, Frenchy, Jonny Wren and Adam Ross all come together for a full nights FUND RAVING in their friends memory. This year all involved in Dancing for Despo will be GOING FOR GOLD with the parties theme in an effort to fulfil DJ Despo’s Gold Party that wasn’t to be, and of course raise as much money as they can for the essential charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Dancing for Despo was launched back in April 2014, on what would have been Duncan Wilson’s 34th Birthday. The event was a great success raising £2000 in just 6 hours on the doors of Distrikt Bar in Leeds. After the triumph of the first event there was no question that the party would carry on to be an annual affair for celebrating the life of DJ Despo.

Dancing for Despo Promoter and Duncan’s housemate Katy Noble said ‘After the success of last years event I really wanted to step up the game and aim higher with our fundraising efforts. Duncan was a much loved character within House Music and I knew we could gather together a strong line up which will enable us to hopefully smash last years total, resulting in the fund raising efforts now stretching over two events. The gold party theme was an easy option, as Duncan had planned a series of his own silver and gold parties around the country before he had passed away. I couldn’t be more committed to raising as much money as in his memory and in a style that couldn’t be any more fitting to his personality. A real house head’. DJ Adam Shelton one of Duncan’s best friends and also one of the headliners of this years event said ‘I am so happy to be playing this years party, Duncan means the world to me. It’s amazing to see and feel his influence and vibe going stronger than ever’

Clara White Senior Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support West Yorkshire went on to say “We are so delighted that Katy and her friends are continuing to support Macmillan in Duncan’s memory. This year’s event sounds like it’s going to be even bigger and better and we cannot thank everyone enough for their hard work in pulling it all together. Macmillan is funded almost completely by donations so every penny collected on the night is vital. You can make a real difference and help change lives by Dancing for Despo! Every single day in Leeds, 10 people are told the news they have cancer. But thanks to the continued support of Katy and the generosity of everyone who attends the Gold Party for Macmillan, we can take one step closer to our goal of making sure no-one in Leeds faces cancer alone’

If you cannot attend but would still like to donate to this years total you can do so direct to Macmillan here – https://macmillan.tributefunds.com/dancing-for-despo-2015
