Getting Ready for Freshers!

Ahh, Freshers. The week when you’re flung together with strangers, forming friendships amid the hazy memory of your nights out amongst empty bottles and takeaway boxes. It’s a magical time.

If you’re arriving in Leeds for the first time, welcome to one of the most exciting, lively and vibrant student cities in the UK. If you’re returning here for another year, welcome back and good luck keeping your student house in the pristine, unsuspecting condition you found it in.

At Capital, we’ve had a busy summer. Our Summertime Ball saw some of the biggest stars in the world including Avicii, One Direction and Ariana Grande perform to 80,000 listeners. During the past month, one of this year’s breakout popstars dropped by for a chat on my show – Jess Glynne, who’s just hit number one for the fifth time in under 18 months.

A load of huge names are performing in the city soon including Years & Years whose debut album Communion has been the sound of my summer. Get yourself to a gig at one of Leeds’ top venues – The First Direct Arena and The O2 Academy are both on your doorstep. Or, you could just stick Capital on, weekdays from 4-7PM, as I’ll have plenty of tickets to giveaway on my show between now and Christmas!

So, I hope you’re stacked up on headache tablets for the inevitable hangovers and have an amazing next few months. I – and the many late night takeaways across the city – are pleased to have you in our city.
