Merrion Centre Teams up with Local Artist for Halloween Spook-tacular

The Merrion Centre is set to give shoppers a spooky treat this Halloween by employing the skills of a local artist.

As home to a huge range of retail and leisure outlets, the centre is embracing Halloween by transforming the mall with the assistance of artist Ralph Ripley.  Ralph has utilised his expertise to add a Halloween-themed, 3D image that creates an optical illusion for shoppers. Already on display at the Merrion Centre, shoppers are invited to come and take a “spooky selfie” of themselves until Tuesday 31st October.

Ralph, who was given access to the centre whilst closed in order to create the image, is a world-leading specialist in graffiti, street art, graphic design and 2D/3D animation.  Originally from Whitby, he has spent 20 years experimenting with imagery and has had exhibitions from Leeds to Barcelona with his paintings being sold around the world.

As well as creating the show stopping image in the centre, the city’s longest-established shopping mall is running a competition and giveaway in the lead up to the 31st October.  For those that get in the spirit of the occasion with the spook-tacular image there is a chance to win a Halloween hamper filled with goodies.

James Broughton, Head of Marketing & PR at Town Centre Securities, owners of the Merrion Centre said: “Halloween is becoming a huge event that people of all ages can enjoy and as a key part of the city we want to get into the spirit of the occasion!

“We know that the Merrion Centre will be a key destination for shoppers whether they’re looking for hair-raising hair pieces & creepy contact lenses at Hair Xpress, trick or treat goodies at Morrisons, or freaky fancy dress and devilish decorations at Home Bargains.

At our centre you can get everything you need in one place and we’re ready to welcome Halloween-shoppers and ensure they can have a bit of fun at the same time!”
