So here we are then, in the midst of summer and I for one can only reminisce on the bar being raised once again in our beloved West Yorkshire city. Now into July we turn our attention to festival season.

We kick off with Cocoon in the Park who return for their 8th annual outing. Sven returns; this time with fellow living legend Carl Cox and minimal pioneer Ricardo Villalobos. Events take place on 11th July. To add fuel to the fire Richie Hawtin is even dropping in to perform the after party at Mint Warehouse.

UB40 also return to Leeds on 18th to perform an exclusive show on Millennium Square. The Brummy reggae trio will be on fine form as they prepare for a another sellout tour. Mark the 18th down in your diaries.

Although not a raver, or at least I don’t think so it’s always worthy of a mention when an icon comes to town. Neil Diamond needs no introduction and with his merry band behind him at Leeds Arena it will be a spectacle like no other.

And finally one of my events makes the cut for July as Catch Recordings announce their residency with label mate Literon flying in from Amsterdam for this free event. It will make the first time Gerd (Literon) has played Leeds under his techno moniker. The show kicks off on the 31st.
